    Position Overview 
    The Yard Driver is responsive to the customer and local Lead/Supervisor regarding the movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing material for shipment or storage. The Yard Driver is responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning. As well, this position may require deliveries to local warehouses which may require on-road driving. 
    Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities 
    ● Movement and spotting of trailers in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner. 
    ● Position may require deliveries to local warehouses which may require on-road driving 
    ● Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. 
    ● Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. 
    ● Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, performing minor repairs, and/or washing trucks. 
    ● Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. 
    ● Hook and unhook trailers; Secure cargo for transport – using ropes, bocks, chain, binders, or covers. Wrap and secure goods using pads, packing paper, containers, or straps. 
    ● Give directions to laborers who are packing goods and moving them onto trailers. 
    ● Operate idle reduction systems or auxiliary power systems to generate power from alternative sources, such as fuel cells, to reduce idling time, to heat or cool truck cabins, or to provide power for other equipment. ● Install or remove special equipment, such as tire chains, grader blades, plow blades, or sanders.
    ● Follow special cargo-related procedures.
    ● Load and unload trailers and perform lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying freight with loading related equipment or other equipment as necessary. 
    ● Remove debris from loaded trailers. 
    ● Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions. 
    ● Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations. Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. 
    ● Ensure that all operations are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. 
    ● Follow appropriate safety procedures. 
    ● Represent the Company and the trucking industry in a professional manner. 
    ● Perform other related job duties as assigned or required. 
    Required Qualifications 
    ● A valid Class A CDL Drivers License is required. 
    ● Minimum of 36 months of full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving experience within the last 5 years.
    ● At least 12 months of full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving experience within the last 3 years.
    ● No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
    ● No serious traffic violations or convictions while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
    ● No clearinghouse violations in the last 5 years.
    ● Knowledge of all applicable DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. 
    ● Ability to satisfy FMSCA/DOT requirements including a clean drug and alcohol screen and a passing DOT physical. 
    ● High level of reliability and commitment to the role. 
    ● Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate interactions professionally. 
    ● Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work. 
    ● Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and respond to official inquiries to drivers. 
    ● Must meet minimum age and insurability requirements (21 years of age or older) in accordance with company insurance policies and/or federal regulations governing commercial vehicle operation.

    Physical Requirements 
    ● Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle for extended periods 
    ● Climb in and out of trucks, trailers, and loading docks multiple times per shift 
    ● Lift, pull, push, or carry up to 75 pounds as needed for loading/unloading 
    ● Squat, crouch, and reach intermittently throughout the shift (up to 2 hours) 
    ● Stand and walk up to 20% of the shift 
    ● Maintain manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate vehicle controls 
    ● Enter and exit the vehicle’s cab multiple times per shift (truck seats are generally 5-6’ off the ground; requires climbing 2-3 steps outside the cab and 1 step inside the cab before seating) 
    ● Sit for extended periods while driving (up to 11 hours per day in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations) 
    ● Pass and maintain DOT medical certification, including vision, hearing, and physical fitness standards
    ● Participate in DOT and Company required alcohol and controlled substance testing program
    ● Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
    Work Environment 
    This position primarily operates in and around commercial vehicles, including long periods spent driving on public roads, highways, and at customer or vendor locations. The employee may be exposed to: 
    ● All types of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) 
    ● Varying traffic conditions, road hazards, and driving stressors 
    ● Warehouse and loading dock environments, depending on delivery requirements 
    ● Noise, vibration, and fumes from truck engines and other vehicles 
    ● Occasional work in tight or enclosed spaces, including loading bays or truck cabs 
    Drivers are expected to maintain alertness and focus for extended periods and may spend the majority of the shift alone in the vehicle. This role involves operating vehicles that are equipped with in-cab cameras, which may include both inward and outward facing video recording. These systems are used for safety monitoring, training, and compliance purposes, in accordance with company policy and applicable law. 
    Location/Remote Eligibility 
    This is a local, onsite yard driving position with potential daily routes originating from a local facility. Drivers return home each day. 
    Schedule 
    Work hours may vary by shift assignment and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs.
